The 9th annual Queenstown marathon is happening this weekend and will see over 10,000 competitors this year.
Nearly 90-percent of athletes are coming from outside of the region, and more than 15-percent will be coming from overseas.
The event is expected to inject millions of dollars into the local economy over the coming week.
