Predator Free advocates say getting more communities involved in pest eradication efforts will stop the furry vermin making their way into supermarkets.
Food Safety officers are on the ground at Countdown supermarkets in both Dunedin and Christchurch after rats and mice were spotted among the groceries.
And the South Dunedin store remains closed on Tuesday.
