The UK Supreme Court has upheld a ruling by the Court of Appeal that found that a scheme to send asylum seekers to Rwanda is unlawful.
In a unanimous decision, the country's most powerful court rejected arguments from the Conservative government that Rwanda had given them clear and trustworthy diplomatic assurances about the safety of migrants sent to the central African nation.
Refoulement, in this context, is the process of genuine refugees being sent back to the countries from which they'd fled.
The ruling is a damning indictment on the some of the hard-line immigration policies pushed by the Tories, but Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is not backing down.
Immigration policy expert and the rights of migrants and refugees Zoe Gardner spoke to Corin Dann.
