New Zealand's third Atmosphere and Climate report predicts more extreme weather, pests and infectious diseases.
Dr Andrea Byrom, an independent environmental consultant, says the report can help set realistic emissions targets and plan managed retreat.
Byrom spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
