The RNZ board is meeting tonight to begin setting up an independent review into how a web journalist was able to insert pro-Kremlin propaganda into stories and publish them online. The digital journalist told RNZ's Checkpoint yesterday he had been doing it for five years, and never been tapped on the shoulder about it. The public broadcaster has stood down the journalist, and since Friday has reviewed hundreds of international stories, he edited for the RNZ website, spanning five years. Board chair Jim Mather says the public's confidence in RNZ has been eroded.
