Police papers say the country's 111 emergency call system is so outdated there is evidence it is causing deaths and injuries.
A host of glaring shortcomings in the 25-year-old system are revealed in year-old papers newly released under the OIA.
They show it broke down 59 times in 2021-to-22.
But a project to replace it was dropped by the previous government due to high costs.
The Police Minister Mark Mitchell has declined to appear on Morning Report and the police are not commenting either.
Phil Pennington spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
