Next week, New Zealand's national flag football teams will be competing in the Asia Oceania continental championships in Kuala Lumpur.
But in five years' time, they could be competing on the biggest sporting stage of them all - at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Flag football was added to the Olympic roster this week, alongside squash, cricket, baseball and softball, and lacrosse.
New Zealand American Football Federation general manager Russell McConnochie spoke to Corin Dann.
