The country is at risk of falling into a deeper recession for longer according to the annual report from the International Monetary Fund.
The report says the Reserve Bank's interest rate rises are still working their way through the economy, and tougher times could be ahead if inflation is not brought under control or government spending blows out.
Westpac chief economist Kelly Eckhold spoke to Corin Dann.
