National will change the rules governing how speed limits are set, if elected next month.
Transport spokesperson Simeon Brown says they hope to restore speed limits that have been reduced under Labour, except where it would be unsafe to do so.
They will mandate a cost-benefit analysis for each speed limit change, which would consider the economic impacts of slower travel times.
