The Midwifery Council is pleased the Government is putting a strong focus on the midwifery workforce in its plan to plug shortages in the health sector.
Te Whatu Ora estimates New Zealand is short by more than 1000 midwives and another 250 midwives would be needed to make up shortfalls out to 2033.
