On Thursday morning, keen meteorite hunters are about to go on a mission to recover freshly fallen shooting stars in the Mackenzie Country.
Apparently about four meteorites land in Aotearoa every year, and a group of enthusiasts called Fireballs Aotearoa believe a particular rock that weighs about half a kilo is lying in the grass just waiting to be found.
Steve Wyn-Harris is leading the expedition.
