Portaloos are a common sight on some Masterton streets, serving as temporary solutions for households afflicted with sewage spills.
Whenever there's heavy rain, it overflows across some families' properties, clogging up their plumbing and leaving a massive clean-up job.
Some families have had the portaloos in place, on and off, for more than eight years.
Masterton District councillor Tim Nelson has been meeting with residents about their frustration over the ongoing problem.
