A Labour MP wants to see Destiny Church members held to account for painting over a rainbow street crossing.
The vandalism was in protest against a drag queen event at the Gisborne Library.
A heated stand-off grew outside the library on Tuesday, and rainbow supporter Shari said she was appalled by the church members' actions.
Hastings District Council has cancelled a similar event due to safety concerns.
Labour Party rainbow spokesperson Shanan Halbert spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
