An Interislander passenger has won just over a thousand dollars in compensation for travel costs after a ferry broke down off the Wellington coast last year.
The Kaitaki was sailing into Wellington Harbour on January the 28th last year when it lost power and drifted towards rocks sparking a mayday call.
The ferry was banned from taking passengers for weeks after, causing major disruption to services and one person decided to take KiwiRail to the disputes tribunal.
