To Tasmania now, where the Hobart council agreed last night to double rates for short-term stay properties, like Airbnb's, to ease the rocketing cost of renting. The proposal will use the short-term stay rate rises to offset lower rates for everyone else, doubling the reason for homeowners to commit to long-term tenants. Hobart's Deputy Lord Mayor Helen Burnet is a key supporter of this policy, and she spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
