High failure rates in a trial-run of new NCEA literacy and numeracy tests are alarming principals.
One school head told RNZ all their students failed the writing test and others reported pass rates below 50 percent for writing and numeracy.
They are worried about how their students will go when the tests become a compulsory part of the NCEA in 2024.
