The coalition government is delivering an $18 million boost to New Zealanders needing to travel for specialist health treatment.
Among the improvements are what Health Minister Shane Reti calls "long overdue" rebates on gas and accommodation for those travelling significant distances.
The minister says the changes include streamlining the rebate process, so people find it easier to use.
Cancer Society chief executive Rachael Hart spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
