Cyclone Lola has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm and is still on track to hit Vanuatu's north eastern islands and the country's second largest city Luganville.
Authorities are telling communities to stock food, water and prepare to evacuate their homes in case of flooding.
Gale force winds of at least 130 kilometres per hour are also expected.
