Doctors are heading to court to stop surgeons owning private radiology companies that do medical scans.
They argue there's a 'dangerous' conflict of interest that could see patients referred for treatment they don't need.
RNZ can reveal the bitter fight has broken out at the same time as more than a billion dollars has been pouring into private radiology for the last year.
