The construction industry is being told it must do more to stop workers being killed and injured on the job.
Since January last year, at least two construction workers have died every month and a person a day is being seriously injured.
Five men are still being treated at the burns unit at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital after being injured in an explosion a week ago.
Earlier this week a man died after an accident on a worksite in Mt Eden.
Industry group Construction Health and Safety has joined with Worksafe and the Council of Trade Unions to appeal for companies to do better.
Its chief executive Chris Alderson spoke to Susie Ferguson.
