Patients in Wairoa can now rely on ongoing chemotherapy services, rather than travelling hours for treatment.
Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora has confirmed chemotherapy treatments, which were first offered in northern Hawke's Bay town in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle, have now become permanent.
Clinical staff in the Hawke's Bay had been trying to get chemotherapy in Wairoa for the past five years.
Hawke's Bay Hospital Clinical nurse manager Laura Ledger spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
