A bypass for a damaged sewer main in the Auckland suburb of Parnell has finally been installed.
The 2.1 metre wide main collapsed three weeks ago, creating a 13 metre deep sinkhole and sending hundreds of litres of wastewater flowing into the Waitematā Harbour every second.
Watercare crews have since created a 400-metre long above-ground bypass pipe, and installed six pumps, to skip the broken section.
Watercare's head of service delivery Sharon Danks spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
