The Black Ferns got their women's Rugby World Cup campaign off to a great start on Saturday, beating Australia 41-points-to-17 at Eden Park.
Despite 6000 ticket holders staying home, the 34,235 people who fronted up set a record for a women's sporting crowd in New Zealand.
Attendees say Eden Park was brimming with energy, with a strong base of families and new fans in the stands.
Rugby commentator Alice Soper spoke to Guyon Espiner.
