Half a dozen homes have been flooded after recent rain at lakes Rotoma and Rotoehu in the Bay of Plenty.
And if the wet weather continues, up to 25 more homes could be at risk this winter.
Chair of Rotorua Lakes Community Board, Phill Thomass, chaired a meeting last night where residents voiced their concerns.
He says it could be six months before the water in the lakes starts to recede.
