Bowel Cancer New Zealand says there are "unacceptable" barriers to diagnosing bowel cancer and the stigma is only making it worse.
It's putting pressure on the Government to lower the minimum age for screening for the cancer to be lowered to 45.
Medical Advisor Professor Frank Frizelle says people under the age of 60 - the current screening age - are facing huge hurdles to get tested.
He spoke to Corin Dann.
