It's taken more than fifty years to get off the ground, but approval's finally been granted for a community marae to be built on Auckland's Te Atatū peninsula.
The plot of land beside the Waitematā harbour, and west of the bridge, will be leased by the Te Atatū Marae Coalition from the Council, and the plan is to include housing for elderly people next to the marae.
Henderson-Massey Local Board chair Chris Carter spoke to Corin Dann.
