A police dog is being treated for at least one bullet wound this evening after being shot by a wanted man as he tried to get away from Northland police.
The man who allegedly pulled the trigger is in Hospital in Auckland after he was shot multiple times by officers returning fire during the standoff near Dargaville.
Police says he was wanted on drugs and firearms charges.
RNZ reporter Chen Liu is in Northland, and filed this report.
