Australia's largest thermal coal mine looks set to close by the end of the decade as mining giant BHP shifts away from the fossil fuel.
The company has confirmed it will apply to close the Mount Athur mine in the New South Wales Hunter Valley, which it previously hoped to keep open until 20-45.
