Why study Matthew? That's a good question, and it's the title of a sermon we'll open today. In the four Gospels we get four different perspectives on the ministry of Jesus. Matthew gives us an insider's view, as one of the Twelve. He brings an accountant's attention to detail to his narrative. And above all, he wants us to feel the immense weight of the evidence of fulfilled prophecy. Who was this IRS agent named Matthew, and why do his words still matter?
