Ask not what your King can do for you; ask what you can do for your King. The crowds wanted Jesus to feed them, heal them, maybe even entertain them with a nice homily. But the spiritual food He was offering made them gag. Here was a different kind of King - not just asking for a ceremonial bow and a few bucks in taxes, but demanding total allegiance right down to the marrow of our bones.
