We can understand how the Disciples would think that, once they had linked up with Messiah, it would be champagne and roses from here on out. Jesus had a shocking surprise for His elite dozen: The path to glory goes through the grave - for Him, and for them, as well. They would all have to "man up" for the dark days ahead, and Christ had a short time to prepare them. As we leaf through the Gospel of Matthew we want to linger a while in Chapter 16.
