If you’ve dreamed of selling up and heading for the hills in your retirement years, this episode is packed with all the wise words, suggestions and inspiration you need!

Angellica Bell meets colourful ‘rewirees’ Tina and Jennifer. Tina started planning for retirement in her 30s and took early retirement in her 50s to live in Spain. When Jennifer retired, she and her husband sold their Hertfordshire home and bought a narrowboat to live on.

Tina gives some tips on things you can do to make sure you’re well-prepared for the emotional and practical side of living abroad in later life, from making new friends to understanding the language, culture and healthcare.

Jennifer explains how she and her husband did some careful planning before taking to an active life on the water. They’ve planned their retirement income to make sure they have enough for any major boat repairs AND a good holiday every year, which naturally often ends up being a cruise!

Angellica then talks with Celia Dodd – author of ‘Not Fade Away: how to thrive in retirement’, as well as Legal & General’s Andrew Kail. They’ll help cover off your checklist for relocating in retirement, from doing your practical research and making sure you’re prepared emotionally and financially for any extra costs a new location may bring, while dreaming big.
