There’s never been a shortage of ideas when it came to making more sequels, reboots or remakes of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” but the latest incarnation didn’t start taking shape until 2018 when Legendary Pictures obtained the rights to the iconic horror franchise.

Following the success of his “Evil Dead” remake along with the breakout hit “Don’t Breathe,” Fede Alvarez got interested in the project and signed on as a producer with newcomer Chris Thomas Devlin handling the script.

Production started in Bulgaria in 2020 but the studio was unimpressed by the initial footage so director David Blue Garcia was hired to take over the project.

Alvarez eventually revealed details surrounding the plot, which would serve as a direct sequel to the original film, with an older Leatherface being unleashed on a whole new group of people crazy enough to wake him from his murderous slumber….

In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to make sure we’ve got our keys and the power tools are ready to go as we review the 2022 sequel “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”…
