As far back as 2011 just after the release of “Scream 4,” there were talks about a fifth film in the series being developed by director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson.

Unfortunately, a lukewarm response to the fourth film put those plans on hold and then sadly Craven passed away in 2015 after he had directed all four films in the “Scream” franchise. It wasn’t until 2019 when Spyglass Media Group acquired the rights to “Scream” and then four months later it was announced that the same creative team behind the surprise horror hit “Ready or Not” would be writing and directing the newest film in the series. Soon after Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette signed on to return to for “Scream 5,” which at this point was just being called “Scream” again with filming taking place in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The story centered around a new group of teens in Woodsboro being terrorized by a killer in a ghostface mask and before long Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley were all being drawn back to the town that had been haunting them for more than two decades…

In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to dust off our Ghostface masks and charge our cell phones as well review the 2022 film “Scream”…
