The massive success of the first two installments of Friday the 13th had proven to be box office gold.

In 1982, Paramount wanted to keep the kill count high with a 3rd film in the franchise. After part 2 star Amy Steel turned down a returning role, director Steve Miner and company decided to capitalize on the resurgence of 3D technology to redefine the movie. The end result is a campy slasher that focuses a little too much on 3D scares, but ends up creating the key elements that define the entire Jason lore and became one of the most lucrative films in the entire series.

We’re going to Camp Blood, so Someone find Shelly’s box of pranks, Damon better eat our stash before the cops find us, ready your harpoons, dust off your 3D glasses and try to keep your eyeballs in your skull, because we’re crushing heads this week on Rewind of the Living Dead with Friday the 13th, Part III, 3D.
