Horatius Bonar, more famous as a hymn-writer, was a preacher in the 1800s from Scotland. He did everything he could during a tough time of transitions for the Church of Scotland. He also had a hard personal life, losing five of his own children during his life.
In this sermon, "Apostolic Sighs," Horatius points out that there is a rare glimpse into the life of the Apostle Paul and his own human worries and frustrations. But how Paul then turns these into hope in Christ and the good work that Christ will do for all who believe.
Special thanks to Ed Backell for returning to Revived Thoughts to read this sermon. If you enjoyed his read, check out J.C. Ryle's sermons and Christmas Evans which Ed has also read for us.
