John Daniel Singleton’s (1968 - 2019) first film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director earning him the honor as not only the youngest filmmaker but the first African-American to ever receive the nomination. His distinctive voice coming out of South Central Los Angeles would resonate what it meant to grow up black in modern America.
John was a kind man, a loving father, and a devoted filmmaker that provided a voice and message for those that didn’t have one. Aaron and Brad are joined by good friend and DMV MC PHZ-Sicks as they survive the mean streets of BOYZ N THE HOOD, pay off their student loans in HIGHER LEARNING, wear their finest Egyptian cotton for SHAFT, and more!
