Interview with Corinne Bergmann and Rebekah McLendon, two leaders in Circle of Hope, on Andre Henry’s book All the White Friends I Couldn’t Keep. Corinne, Rebekah, and Jonny discuss how the book has impacted them and how they see it relating to Circle of Hope. They explore ideas such as what it means to break up with white Jesus, seeing black rage as a gift, and complicity among white people who call themselves anti-racist. At the end, our guests consider similarities between stories that Andre shared and our community, and what it means to honor those who have left because we were white friends they couldn’t keep. As always, Spiritual Show and Tell to end the episode: a tattoo inspired by The Velveteen Rabbit, the beach, and windchimes.
