Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Marcus Cole grew up singing in the family group. His early memories of music were fueled by soulful greats like Donny Hathaway, Rance Allen, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke among a select few.
It was in Utica, NY in the late 70’s where Cole also developed his love for artist like Toto, James Taylor, Chicago and Sting which can be heard respectively in his music.
After an 8 year stint as one of the lead singers of the seminal gospel group Commissioned, Cole began honing is production and writing skills which were showcased on his debut solo album entitled “Write My Song” released in August of 2006.
But Cole says his motivation for music is to promote a “higher consciousness and a good time”, this led him to the construction of his follow-up album, “Soul Revival” which many say is reminiscent of a time when music was socially aware and just made you feel good.
