Black Trans Visibility with Nic Dawes

The middle-child of a Pentecostal preacher, Nic always felt incredible pressure to conform. After finding their own liberation and self-acceptance in breaking away from traditional family and societal structures, Nic made it their personal mission to support as many queer people of colour in their journey to self-discovery as they can. Nic is the Founder and Creative Director of RealQeers, whose mission is:

Create a welcoming space within the LGBTQ community for people of colour.
Bring queer people of colour from all over the world to the forefront of the conversation.
Be a source of media representation for queer people of colour
Highlight the central roles queer people of colour have played in fights for justice
Initiate conversations within our cultures and religions about the treatment and acceptance of queer and trans people
Have real impact on the lives of queer people by helping them feel affirmed, supported and safe
