Religion Today host Martin Tanner explains why even though the first book on Near-death Experiences (NDEs) wasn't published until 1975, a careful study shows NDEs have been known much earlier:  (1) in the 1800s in the LDS Faith, (2) in the Middle Ages, (3) in the first millennium after Christ, (4) in the New Testament, (4) in the Book of Mormon, (5) Centuries before Christ, and, even earlier, (6) in the writings of Plato.  NDEs have many overlapping points with Latter-day Saint beliefs and doctrines which makes them especially acceptable to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
