Seven years ago, the City of Vancouver allowed a comprehensive upzoning of Chinatown that brought in rapid condo development and accelerated the demise of this historic cultural site. Activists and local residents fought back, focusing their attention of a proposed condo tower in the heart of Chinatown. They won that fight and an apology from the city for 150 years of institutionalized racism.
