Psalm 1 teaches that the righteous prosper and the wicked perish. But, it is not a promise that we’ll benefit materially if we obey. Rather, it is a plea to trust in God. He is designer of the world, and he has revealed his design in the Scriptures. And, because we will never be truly righteous on our own, it is a plea to trust in Jesus, the only righteous one.
