Evident

Galatians 5:19-21. In this passage, Paul is lovingly exhorting these Galatian Christians to be faithful and enjoy salvation. We should not be deceived to settle for a fleshly life style.

But I Say

Galatians 5:16-18. In this passage, we see an exhortation, as the people of God, to learn to walk by the spirit of God and glorify and honor God.

Freedom?

Galatians 5:13-15. In this passage, we see Jesus has given to His people a spiritual freedom from the burden of meticulously keeping the law of Moses to earn God’s favor and earn God’s blessing.

Our Victory

From 1 Corinthians 15:35-58. In this passage, we see that Jesus rose from the dead and He shares the benefits of his resurrection with his people. If this is true, what does that mean for us?

Our Resurrection

From 1 Corinthians 15:12-34. This passage helps us see that the resurrection of Jesus Christ has real consequences for us and for the world. Either Jesus died and rose again, defeating death, and validating all He said, or He died, is dead, and is a liar. There is no neutral ground on which to stand.

Our Message

From 1 Corinthians 15:1-11. From this passage we see that our message and God’s desire for us are really simple. Jesus came, lived, died, and rose again to bring life everlasting to His people. God’s first desire for us is that we cling to that message.

Good News

From Matthew 11:25-30. As we conclude our study in Matthew, this passage reminds us that Jesus is the good and faithful son of God who has redeemed the world. He offers an invitation to the world to come to Him and experience the benefits of what He has done for us.

Sent Ones

From Matthew 28:16-20. This passage teaches us how Jesus sent out the ones that are to fulfill the Great Commission. He tells the disciples that He has authority everywhere, to go everywhere to build the Kingdom, and that He will be with them everywhere and always.

Risen!

From Matthew 28:1-15. This passage tells us that Jesus Christ has defeated sin and death and He is alive! Jesus reigns over all things and is able to bring life, hope, help, and peace to all people because He is alive!

Crucified and Buried

From Matthew 27:32-66. This passage is all about Jesus’ death. The blood of Christ was poured out to bring eternal salvation to sinful people. Our call is to turn to Him. As Christ died, He was undoing the curse of death that broke the world. Jesus lived, died, and rose again to show that he is Lord over all things.

Condemned

From Matthew 27:15-31. In this passage, we see that Jesus is going to be condemned not because of any crime he has committed, but rather for the truthful declaration of “I am the Christ”. This passage will end with Jesus walking towards his own crucifixion, and that is ultimately good for us and good for God’s plan of redemption.

Regret

From Matthew 27:1-14. In this passage, we are in the last hours of the earthly life of Jesus. There are two realities that we must contend with. Reality one is that the charges against Jesus are being formalized and he is moving swiftly toward crucifixion. The second reality is that Judas, who betrayed Jesus, is wrestling with the guilt that he feels over betraying Jesus. The overwhelming truth with both of these realities is that the blood of Jesus is enough for everyone’s sin.

The Arrest

From Matthew 26:47-75. In this passage, we see Jesus is ultimately arrested and condemned to fulfill the Scriptures and deliver His people. He was arrested concerning the true claims of His divinity, all moving towards redemption, hope, and salvation.

Strike the Shepherd

From Matthew 26:30-46. In this passage, we see indeed Jesus must die, He must be sacrificed for the redeeming plan of the Father to move forward. When the shepherd is struck, it will cause many to stumble and fall away and it will cause His flock to run to Him in faith. The plan of God moves forward through the suffering of the Son and the benefits of the kingdom come to us only through the suffering of the Son.

Something To Remember

From Matthew 26:17-29. In this passage, we see Jesus wasn’t making something new up, but instead was taking a long established sign of God’s goodness, and declaring that He himself was that sign.

Coming Death

From Matthew 26:1-16. In this passage, we see it is time for the death of Jesus. As this story is unfolding, we must remember that the coming death of Jesus is both necessary and good.

The Separation

From Matthew 25:31-46. In this passage, we see that we should expect Jesus to reign and we should expect the reigning Jesus to draw people to Himself.

Born To Redeem

From Galatians 4:4-7. In this passage, we see Paul is making a point that Jesus, the son of God, became man at just the right time, to accomplish exactly what God intended. Why did Jesus come when he came? What are we supposed to do with the Christmas story?

Helpful Parables

From Matthew 25:1-30. In this passage, we see Jesus giving two parables that drill down on what it looks like to be ready (for Jesus’ return) and what it looks like to be actively faithful. Jesus wants us to be eagerly, actively looking for Him to come. Jesus also wants us to actively and faithfully steward what He’s entrusted us until He comes.

When?

From Matthew 24:36-51. In this passage, we see that Jesus is coming again and Jesus is teaching us to stay spiritually awake looking for His return and to stay spiritually faithful to His Word as we look for his return. Anything less is missing the point.

Distress

From Matthew 24:15-35. In this passage, we see Jesus is preparing His disciples to be faithful in their generation….and to interpret this cry - “Come Lord Jesus”.

Our Response

From Matthew 24:3-14. In this passage, we see that Jesus is preparing His disciples to be faithful to Him, even in great hardship.

Leaving the Temple

From Matthew 24:1-4. In this passage, we see Jesus was not merely calling for a reformation within the temple worship of Israel, but rather He was coming to radically change what it looked like to relate to God.

The Heart of Jesus

From Matthew 23:37-39. In this passage, Jesus gives us a beautiful insight into the heart of Jesus…that the severity of God’s judgement is matched by and inseparable from His love and care for His people. Therefore, we should let the weight of this judgement press and drive us towards Him.

The 7th Woe to the Pharisees

From Matthew 23:29-36. In this passage, we see that Jesus’ judgement and anger are just, well placed, and they reveal God’s good character.

Becoming Righteous

From Matthew 23:25-28. In this passage, we see that external adherence to rules will never make us acceptable or pleasing in the sight of God. Morally cleaning ourselves up on the outside will never satisfy what the Lord longs for His people.

Missing the Point

From Matthew 23:23-24. In this passage, we discover that as God’s people, to know the Lord and know what the Lord desires, and to pursue what the Lord desires - is how we follow Jesus. Are we running towards Jesus and bringing others with us?

More than Money

From Matthew 23:16-23. In this passage, the key word is “blind guides”. Ultimately, what Jesus is condemning the Pharisees for in this passage is creating rules that were good law but completely missed the point of worshiping God.

Open the Door

From Matthew 23:13-15. In this passage, this is the first of many ‘woe’ statements that Jesus delivers to the religious leaders of Israel. They had one job and they were failing miserably at it. They were to prepare the people for the son of God who is coming to redeem, and instead they were lost and they missed Jesus the Savior. We should learn to see Jesus and learn to cling to, run to, and follow Him.

Hypocrites!

From Matthew 23:1-36. In this passage, Jesus instructs His listeners (the people of Jerusalem), to not follow their leaders because they are hypocrites and the woe of God rests upon them. And He is issuing this warning to lovingly guide His people toward Himself by offering a clear rebuke of the religious leaders in Jerusalem on the week of Jesus’ crucifixion.

Questioning No More

From Matthew 22:41-46. In this passage, Jesus asks the religious leaders a question that will ultimately prepare them to wrestle with His true identity as Messiah and the son of God.

Priority

From Matthew 22:34-40. In this passage, the religious leaders continue to try and catch Jesus in a trap by asking what is the greatest commandment in the Law. Jesus answers this question clearly, and in doing so, tells us what God cares deeply about for us, even today.

Resurrecting Bad Questions

From Matthew 22:23-33. In this passage, Christ affirms the centrality of the resurrection in a way that we need to cling to. The heart of the power of God is His redeeming broken people to live with Him forever. What do you believe about eternity? Does it line up with what the Scriptures say about eternity?

A Sinister Question

From Matthew 22:15-22. This passage is intended to shape how we think about Christ, His Kingdom, and obedience to Him. Why did Jesus respond the way He did to the question in this passage? Do we have a faith where the words of Jesus challenge and stretch and reshape who we are? Or do we have a faith where we expect to make Jesus in our own image?

Filled with Guests

From Matthew 22:11-14. In part 2 of this passage, Jesus continues this parable by challenging the religions leaders of Israel, and the question Jesus is answering is, “Who are the true people of the Kingdom?”

The Unexpected

From Matthew 22:1-14. In this passage, we see Jesus continuing to instruct the religious leaders of Israel about His kingdom, specifically how He came to build His kingdom defined by an allegiance to Himself.

Responses to Jesus

From Matthew 21:23-46. In this passage, we see Jesus is challenging the religious leaders and their assumptions about the people of God. Both of these challenges push the story toward the coming death of Jesus.

Whose Authority?

From Matthew 21:18-22. In the first part of this passage, we see that Jesus tells us that He is eager for a people who are fruitful and dependent on Him.

Hosanna?

From Matthew 21:1-17. In this passage, we see Jesus entering Jerusalem as He begins the last week of his life on Earth. He enters Jerusalem publicly, and entering to redeemer His people, even from themselves. This passage drives us to the question of “who is this Jesus?” and how do we respond to Him?

Who Then Can Be Saved?

From Matthew 19:13-30. We see that salvation is impossible apart from God’s work and God’s work is more exhaustive, more complete, and more surprising than we could ever imagine.

Two Become One

From Matthew 19:1-12. We see Jesus teaching his disciples about the nature of marriage. He is teaching them to walk with Him and to follow Him, and to obey Him and serve Him in all things, including marriage. God made us and God made marriage, therefore God orders our thinking and conviction about marriage.

Forgiveness

From Matthew 18:21:35. In this passage, we see that forgiveness is central to Christian faith. It is God’s purpose and God’s will that forgiveness be abundant within the Christian community.

Reconciled

From Matthew 18:15-20

Kingdom Realities

From Matthew 18:1-14. This passage helps us see the greatness in, the enemies of , and unity in God’s Kingdom.

In Conclusion

From Romans 15:14-33. The conclusion of the letter that Paul wrote to the church in Rome helps us conclude Missions Month at Redeemer Church.

Ambassadors of Reconciliation

From 2 Corinthians 5:16-21. This passage helps us understand that the way we live is formed and grounded in how we see things. As believers in Christ, our perspective about who Jesus is to us and our own identify has changed.

Missions and the Local Church

From Matthew 16:13-20. We focus on Matthew 16:18 as Pastor Nik Lingle helps us see how the Church will continue to progress and advance to the ends of the Earth. We see Christ will establish His Church in this world, that the powers of Hell will oppose the Church, but despite this opposition, the Church will prevail.

With Us...

From Matthew 18:16-20. What if we deeply believe in the promises of Matthew 18? What would change in our way of life and ministry?
