Where are all the Canadians, eh?
If you take a close look at the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list you’ll see a bunch of Canadians - The Band, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, etc. - who have one thing in common: they spent a huge portion of their careers in the United States. It does seem like Rolling Stone has a bit of a *gasp* American bias.
Well, the good folks at Record Roulette would like to help Rolling Stone correct this bias, so we’ve picked three albums from Canadian artists that have a serious claim to the list and debated which one is best. Eamon O’Flynn chose Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown,” Sonya Walton chose kd lang’s “Ingenue” and Nathan Smith chose Rufus Wainwright’s self-titled debut album.
Which one should make the list? Listen to find out.
