Broadway 2019

Vamos a repasar lo que ha sido la cartelera de estrenos esta temporada en Broadway probando unas cucharaditas del menú teatral que nos ha ofrecido la Gran Manzana, sin olvidar platos que no encontraron su punto de cocción y se retiraron del fuego antes de alcanzar su punto justo. Así que bienvenidos a New York y a los musicales que han jugado o juegan un papel esta temporada.

Dejaremos de lado los musicales de sobra conocidos por haber hablado de ellos en “Cuéntame un musical” o por llevar mucho tiempo en cartel como “ALADDIN”, “BEAUTIFUL”, “THE BOOK OF MORMON”, “CHICAGO”, “COME FROM AWAY”, “DEAR EVAN HANSEN”, “FROZEN”, “HAMILTON”, “THE LION KING”, “THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA”, “WAITRESS” o “WICKED”, aunque llama la atención que de esta docena de títulos sólo se hayan visto TRES en España (Chicago, El rey león y El fantasma de la Opera).

Tampoco hablaremos de producciones veteranas del off- Broadway como “FIDDLER ON THE ROOF”, “JERSEY BOYS”, “ROCK OF AGES” o “THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG”, super éxitos en Broadway y Londres, inéditos en nuestro país, salvo “LA FUNCIÓN QUE SALE MAL” que se estrenó el mes pasado en el Teatro de La Latina de Madrid, una divertidísima comedia que lleva triunfando en Londres y New York desde hace cinco años.
