Does stress affect your gut? What about your hormones? And what even is cortisol anyways? In this episode, Dr. Sarah takes a deep dive into the difference between an acute and chronic stress response. Cortisol, which is a hormone involved in the chronic stress response, has a wide range of actions from blood sugar support, to inflammation modulation, to energy provision. That is why when you are ‘stressed out’ in the long term you can experience what we call the ‘itty bitty sh**ty committee’ of symptoms, also discussed in today’s episode.

It can feel overwhelming to start to tackle your stress response but it doesn’t have to be! There are many hidden sources of stress that can easily be reduced. Dr. Sarah  covers what those hidden stressors are and how to get them under control so that you can better manage the stressors you can’t change.
