Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball lives by the mantra ‘1 of 1.

You see it within his Puma collection as well as his newly launched prep academy.

Growing up, Ball always wore No. 1 on the basketball court. But, when he was drafted to Charlotte in 2020, that number was being used by Malik Monk.

Now that Monk has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, LaMelo was hoping to switch numbers.

As reported by Ashley Stroehlein of NBC Charlotte, Ball missed the deadline to request a number change with the league.
