With only two weeks to go until our national championship begins, Ready Golf kicks off this week with Part 1 of our RBC Canadian Open preview!

This episode covers a brief history of the historic event and outlines some major changes that are taking place this year; the first being the change in date, moving up to June from July. The second change is a shift in venue, returning to the Hamilton Golf & Country Club for the first time since 2012. We discuss the impact that both of these factors will have on this year’s tournament and how it has led to the strongest field of competition that we’ve seen in recent years.

We then take a deep dive into the venue. Eric, Brent and John traveled down to Ancaster and were joined by member Boyd Mickle as he took the guys on a course tour and recorded a live interview on location. Boyd has been a member at Hamilton G&CC for over 30 years and was able to share some first hand experience with the course, its evolution, and the impact of hosting a PGA Tour event. A one-time competitive golfer himself, Boyd also regaled us with some unbelievable stories about playing some of golf’s most famous venues, such as Royal County Downs, Augusta National and Whistling Straits, as well as run-ins with past and present PGA Tour pros.

Special thanks to both Boyd Mickle and the Hamilton Golf & Country Club for their hospitality!

Join us next week for Part 2 of our Canadian Open preview as we shift our focus to the players, picking our favourites and adding insights on what we’ll be watching out for.
