In this podcast, we will look at the mighty men of scripture and see how they lived lives not for their own glory, but to the Kavod of Yahweh. The glory of the God of Israel. We have been working our way to the life of David, and today, we will begin looking at the rise of David beginning in the midst of Saul’s demise.

In 1 Samuel 15:25, Saul was rejected as king and in verse 35 we see that it grieved Samuel and rightfully so; however, when Saul was first rejected as king back in 1 Samuel 13:14, God gave us a promise that he would not leave Israel kingless. Instead he promises, “[That he] has sought out a man after his own heart, and [He] has commanded him to be prince over his people.” Not only will God raise up a new king, but this new king will be one who loves the Lord. So our story today begins on the heel of Saul’s rejection and in the midst of Samuel’s grief, and it will end with the hope in this new king.

Today’s story comes from 1 Samuel 16:1-13.
